I can confidently say, what mitsuda-san wrought while working on CT is beyond timeless, so many remixes, reimagining's and versions of songs from the game, all of them beautiful, including the original 16 bit versions in their original glory... I have become infinitely more sentimental as I have gotten older, so many of these tracks touch me somewhere deep and lead me to tears, both in the beauty of the music itself but also in the way it transports me to times and places long past and far away...

It's the chimes, for me. I used to have vivid dreams of a demolished landscape, possibly post nuclear apocalypse, before I ever played Chrono Trigger. Walking through the broken area, the turbulent winds caused bits of metal to hit against each other, making this sound. It was horrifying, as the further I went in, the more final the situation felt, you know? Then I played Chrono Trigger and heard these chimes and I felt a sense of finality again. This remix really covers that for me.

This and corridors of time are the best 2 video game scores of all time. And your remakes killed them in an amazing way. Well done

The problme I find is the L and R channels that bring you deeper into the woods is missing, from teh original accompanment. Pretty sure the orchestral version would have that melodic sway, I find this was a trance inducing timeless appeal of the alternating sometiems even teh baseline that goes subtly louder and quiter between ears, as if your traveling through something... Not sure if its teh data uploaded or the mp3, but there is something missing without that dynaimic range to encompass teh ears.. Its why I think orchestral shouldn't divide themselves in such ordered systems for equal ambience of sound ,but more over an interplay of the accoustic interplay of how the ineterence of some ranges cna play in teh ear of hte left and right, I hav ebeen to symphonies and this is also missing, perhaps because their smaller, but often jsut replica music without an aspiration to tickle the mind, thus the overall original in game is better, ebcause of that loss here, even though the playing is and seems better. hmm. Plus mp3 destroys the high and low, and thus you miss so much nuiaunce which can lead to anticipation, and other feelings, making some msuic feel more robotic than played.

Epic rendition. Especially against Azala and Black Tyrano. It really does feel like the great last stand of a dying race, fighting against the currents of change. They gave it their absolute best, fought and died bravely to the last.

I love how Mitsuda incorporated Geallic and Gaulic motiffs to really hit home the chivalry feeling he was trying to get across.

Speaking as an ethnomusicologist, all I gotta say is Mitsuda really did the perfect job of portraying the feeling of hopelessness with this entire piece.

"Dark World" / "World of Ruin" makes you feel that the dying land is *intimately* involved in _your_ suffering; it wastes no opportunity to seize your insecurities and magnify them until the resultant hopelessness paralyzes you into inaction. Fighting beasts on the parched plains is a trifling matter compared to battling one's own demons. "Ruined World" / "2300 A.D.", by contrast, imparts the impression that the world is oppressive, but it is *impersonal* in its oppression. Whether _you_ live another day, perish due to famine, are eviscerated by a monster's claws or succumb to a simple infection is of no concern to this dismal future. Meaning is not a luxury no one can afford: it doesn't exist.

I thought you couldn't make that scene any more solemn and epic than it already was. You did it, man. Tears are welling up.
